VT Systems in Washington DC is the parent company of STA Mobile
and the US headquarters of ST Engineering.
Gen (Ret) Coburn became Chairman and CEO of VT Systems in 2001, following a 39-year career in the US Army where his last assignment was as Commanding General of the US Army Materiel Command (AMC), which had an annual budget of $39.2 billion and more than 51,000 employees. AMC is one of the largest commands of the Army with activities in 42 states and 28 foreign countries. Gen (Ret) Coburn was directly responsible for acquisition, contracting, research and development, foreign military sales, industrial base development, ammunition, program management and sustainment for the US Army.
During his 10 years as Chairman and CEO of VT Systems, Gen (Ret) Coburn has overseen revenue growth from $61million in 2001 to more than $1 billion in 2008.
Under his direction, STA Mobile has grown to become one of the largest MROs in the US and is a key contributor to the Mobile-area economy with more than 1,500 employees and $200 million in annual revenue.
Gen (Ret) Coburn is a distinguished military graduate of Eastern Michigan University where he was commissioned as a second lieutenant of Infantry, beginning his military career. He also earned a law degree from the University of Missouri.
Eastern Michigan recognized Gen (Ret) Coburn with an honorary doctorate degree. He has authored many articles, most recently in the 2009-10 edition of the International Management and Development Institute. He also serves on several corporate and institutional boards.
