STA Mobile, located at Brookley Aeroplex in Mobile, Alabama, is a renowned provider of aircraft maintenance and modification (AMM) services for both commercial airlines and air freight operators. We meet our customers' requirements by providing a full spectrum of high quality, reliable and timely AMM and engineering solutions. We have the know-how and experience to comprehensively manage complex projects, ensuring our customers' aircraft operate safely and efficiently.
Now in our 20th year of operations, STA Mobile, a business unit of the aerospace division of VT Systems, has more than 1,500 employees and operates nearly 900,000 square feet of hangar space, support shops, offices and ramp space. STA Mobile is capable of accommodating eight wide-body and ten narrow-body aircraft simultaneously in our nine large hangars. We have dedicated buildings housing our Training, Engineering, and Material Warehouse operations, and an environmentally controlled engine storage facility. Our hangars have direct access to the Mobile Downtown Airport's (airport code BFM) 9,600-foot, Instrument Landing System (ILS)-equipped, 24/7 operational runway.

Fully Certified
STA Mobile is fully certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) as an approved Repair Station. Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards. It is designed to meet the most stringent airworthiness requirements of our customers and regulatory agencies. Constant year-round internal and external audits and surveillance ensure that our people and processes comply with all regulatory standards.
Economic Impact
We are proud of our positive economic impact on the Mobile community since we began operations at Brookley Aeroplex in 1991:
- As one of Mobile's largest companies, STA Mobile's annual employee payroll reached $80 million in 2010 – and totals more than $1 billion since opening the door in 1991.
- Direct purchases in 2010 by STA Mobile from 100 local vendors in the Mobile area amounted to some $10 million – everything from paper clips to printer cartridges to cutting the grass to coffee and soft drinks.
- More than $10 million in local taxes were paid in 2010 – ad valorem and other taxes on property, equipment and inventory, as well as sales taxes on local purchases.
- STA Mobile donates thousands more every year to charitable causes and community organizations.
